Ground hog days

"This lockdown has been tough. I don’t think anyone expected it to last as long as it has. Most of the time, we have all  'gotten on with it' resignedly."

"However some days there has been a real sense of loss – days and weeks disappearing into nothing. Good memories that could have been but were not. I have felt so sad for our kids who have missed out on so much.

"Down-times do have their silver linings and for me it’s taking the opportunity to be in the ‘now’ to take notice of the beauty that can be in every day – a swan sitting on her nest and becoming a Mum, the family joy of having Daily Bread cinnamon buns delivered, a pod of orca swimming underneath the Harbour Bridge, laughing at old family photos."

The camera captures a moment in time, when time seems immeasurable in lockdown.

"Photos don’t just capture a beautiful or interesting image, they also capture a moment in time – Auckland’s normally crammed northwestern motorway eerily empty – ghost seats devoid of fishermen chewing the fat waiting for a bite. Even our dog captured the lockdown mood perfectly – I could totally relate!"
